We’re not here to judge you – we’re here to understand you, help you grow, and support you when things feel tough. 🧑🏫 Illuminate You – Our School Our school is a bit different from most. It’s called Illuminate You – Lifelong Learning Lodge, and it’s built around your needs, not just timetables. We know that big classrooms and strict routines don’t work for everyone. You’ll get a say in what you learn, and you’ll work with tutors who understand how to support young people with different experiences. Whether you're interested in maths, music, mechanics, or mental health – we’ve got something for you. And if you’re having a tough day, we’ll work with you, not against you. We offer therapy, one-to-one support, and practical sessions to help you grow your confidence and skills at your own pace. 🛏️ Supported Accommodation (16+) If you’re a bit older and ready for more independence, our supported accommodation might be for you. Our Homes Our single, dual, three, and four bed homes provide a supported, nurturing and caring environment for children experiencing emotional and behavioural difficulties, complex health and learning disabilities aged between 8 and 18 years of age. The flexibility of our provision allows us to have a child-centred approach to meeting their needs. All our homes are presented to a high standard and are meticulously crafted to meet the unique needs of each child. We work with parents and families who we recognise to be our partners in providing care, learning, development and safeguarding the children in our homes. Our therapist(s) provides support and ongoing learning for our staff to promote a trauma informed approach to their practice and recognise the importance of nurturing a trusting relationship with those that care for them. We aim to work seamlessly with our multi-agency partners to promote every child’s health, education, and social needs. At Illuminate Care Group we recognise that every child matters. We support them to explore new activities and hobbies, integrate within community activities and learn important life skills. We recognise that alongside safeguarding children, our responsibility is to prepare them for their future and we have a strong outlook on preparing them for reunification with their family or in preparing them to progress through our wider services to achieve independence. Childrens Guide Link to Family Lives - For help and advice Complaints and Compliments at Illuminate Care At Illuminate Care, we want everyone to feel safe, listened to, and respected. You have the right to say when something isn’t right — and also to tell us when something’s gone well! 💬 Making a Complaint A complaint means telling us you’re unhappy about something — big or small. It could be about: How you’re treated by staff or another young person Decisions that affect you Your room, food, or activities How rules are used Anything that makes you feel upset, unsafe, or unfairly treated You can complain at any time. You will never get into trouble for speaking up. 👂 How to Make a Complaint You can: Tell any staff member, your Key Worker, or the Registered Manager Write it down and put it in the Complaints Box Send a message or email if you prefer writing to talking Ask someone else (like a parent, social worker, advocate, or friend) to complain for you If you tell a staff member, they will: Listen carefully to you. Take your complaint seriously. Write down what you’ve said. Help you understand what happens next. ⚙️ What Happens Next We’ll look into your complaint quickly (normally within 7 days). You’ll be told what we find out and what we’ll do to fix things. If it takes longer, we’ll tell you why and keep you updated. If you’re not happy with the outcome, you can ask for it to be looked at again by a Senior Manager or Responsible Individual. Each referral is carefully reviewed to ensure that we can fully meet the young person’s needs within our therapeutic and educational framework. Prior to admission, we review the learner’s Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP), undertake a risk assessment and matching process, and liaise with professionals and parents to plan a smooth transition. Our aim is always to ensure that every learner placed with us can thrive both educationally and emotionally within a safe, supportive environment. Withdrawal of a pupil is managed sensitively and in close consultation with the placing authority, parents or carers, and relevant professionals. A transition plan is developed to ensure continuity of education and support, minimising disruption and safeguarding the pupil’s well-being. We operate a clear and transparent Complaints Procedure in line with the Independent School Standards. Parents, carers, and placing authorities are encouraged to raise concerns at the earliest opportunity so they can be resolved informally where possible. Formal complaints are logged, investigated, and responded to within agreed timescales. Our work is regulated and inspected by Ofsted (the Office for Standards in Education, Children’s Services and Skills), the official body responsible for inspecting and monitoring services that care for and educate children and young people in England. Ofsted is an independent government department that inspects and regulates services to ensure they meet high standards of care, education, and safeguarding. Their role is to ensure children and young people are safe, well cared for, and supported to achieve positive outcomes. Education Provision – Illuminate You Our school, Illuminate You, Lifelong Learning Lodge, is registered with Ofsted as an independent special school for children with social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) needs. Ofsted evaluates our: Quality of education Behaviour and attitudes Personal development Leadership and management We are committed to delivering a therapeutic and trauma-informed education environment where every learner has the opportunity to thrive. Supported Accommodation (16–18 Years Old) From October 2023, Ofsted began formally registering and inspecting supported accommodation providers for 16–18 year olds. This includes our services designed to support young people transitioning to independence. Ofsted looks at: Safety and safeguarding arrangements Suitability and quality of accommodation Support planning and delivery Leadership and governance Services are subject to regular inspection and must meet National Standards for Supported Accommodation. Residential Children’s Homes For our residential children’s homes, Ofsted conducts regular inspections to assess: The experiences and progress of children How well children are helped and protected The effectiveness of leadership and management Children’s homes must follow Children’s Homes Regulations and Quality Standards, ensuring the emotional, physical, and educational development of every child is promoted. Continuous Improvement Through Regulation We welcome Ofsted’s oversight and use inspection feedback as a tool for growth and improvement. Our teams are trained in compliance and quality assurance, and we regularly self-audit to maintain the highest standards across all our services.
